Rehabilitation of the wounded Artem

Artem is a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Three Japanese citizens also fought against the Russian invaders side by side with Artem as part of this battalion.

Before the war, he worked as a thermal power engineer.

In late 2022, he sustained severe gunshot and mine-blast injuries.

As a result of the gunshot wound, he suffered a multi-fragmentary fracture of the sacrum (S2–S3), bilateral damage to the lumbosacral plexus, and the destruction of the main vein in his left leg.
He also sustained significant polytrauma from a hand grenade explosion.
The injury caused spinal cord damage in the sacral region, leading to the surgical removal of one-third of the sacral bone.
Consequently, Artem suffers from serious pelvic organ dysfunction and constant, debilitating pain.

NPO Ukraine-Yokohama is organizing a fundraiser to cover:

• A course of specialized injections to reduce inflammation in the pelvic area and promote nerve tissue recovery;
• Medications to improve the restoration of neural connections.
